NPS Wright Brothers Interpretation and Volunteer Program Support Assistant

Living Stipend: $600/Week

Position Details

The Conservation Corps North Carolina (CCNC) moves forward from the tradition of the Civilian Conservation Corps to engage young people in conservation service projects through meaningful work on the land.

CCNC in partnership with the National Park Service is seeking 1 interns who will engage with visitors and members of the local community both in-person and virtually as they interpret the site that commemorates the first successful power-driven airplane flight. This intern will independently research and create educational programming for the general public. This member will also assist with community events and have a key role in management of the park’s volunteer program, including recruitment, onboarding, and support of park volunteer supervisors. This intern will also have some community engagement responsibilities at the local libraries, schools, and daycare/after school programming.

Position Responsibilities will include:

• Assist the Division of Interpretation and visitor services by providing interpretive programs and visitor center support as needed.
• Independently research and create interpretive and educational programming to support park's interpretive themes.
• Assist with community engagement by representing the group of parks at a variety of community events.
• Have a key role in the management of the park's volunteer program
• Assist with providing educational programs to local community.

• Position is eligible for an AmeriCorps education award upon successful completion of the program.

• Living Allowance: $600/week (pre-tax)

Minimum Requirements:

• Possession of a current valid driver’s license

• Possession of a valid Social Security Card

• Ability to pass a background check

• Must be a US Citizen, National, or Lawful Permanent Resident Alien of the United States

• Ability to communicate and work effectively with individuals of all ages and background

• Personal transportation to get to and from duty station
