The Houston-based SCADA Network Engineer is responsible for network and systems engineering support to the CAMS Remote Operations Center (ROC). Responsibilities include maintaining all ROC OT infrastructure, such as server management and patching, device integration, and managing active directories. Additionally, this position will be responsible for purchasing, configuring, implementing, and maintaining all OT assets: edge devices, VM licenses, servers, VPNs. The SCADA Network Engineer will be responsible for setting up and configuring communications systems with client sites, including occasional travel to support on-boarding. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, has a technical background and more than 12 years of experience managing critical system infrastructures and data-center operations across multiple platforms.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and maintain SCADA systems for monitoring and controlling renewable and thermal energy assets, including but not limited to:
  • Virtual machine deployment
  • Firewall configurations
  • VPN configurations
• Develop and implement network architectures and configurations to ensure reliable and secure communication between field devices and control systems.
• Evaluate, recommend, and deploy OT network design standards for integration into facility operations.
• Monitor and troubleshoot network and SCADA system performance, addressing any issues to minimize downtime and optimize efficiency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including field engineers, IT professionals, NERC compliance staff, and operations personnel, to integrate new assets and technologies into the SCADA system.
• Deploy hardware and software solutions (i.e. edge devices, VMs, licensing)
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, cybersecurity protocols, and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare network design drawing and electronic access control documentation to be utilized as evidence and participate in NERC pre-audit assessments and audits.
• Provide technical support and training to operations staff on SCADA system usage and best practices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with SCADA systems.
• Participate in on-call rotations as needed to provide 24/7 support for critical system issues.
• Prepare and maintain documentation for system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
• Continuously evaluate and recommend improvements to SCADA and network infrastructure to enhance reliability, performance, and security.
