Job Title: Geologist Core Logging
Location: Copperton, UT
Duration: Contract, 1 year
Pay range: $23.75-$32.00/hr DOE.
Shift: 8 days on 6 days off work schedule. Day shift 6:00am- 4:30pm
Job Responsibilities:
Position is responsible for collecting geological and geotechnical data by logging core and chips collected from drilling operations and updating the applicable geologic models.
This position is also responsible for updating models to represent down-hole surveying and bore hole geophysical studies.
This work is critical and its future expansions in terms of resource knowledge through the optimization of geologic and geotechnical models.
The data collected serves as the baseline for both current and future mine expansions.
Take an active role in the safety culture. Logging core 80%Advance the geologic knowledge of the resource through logging core and chips collected from drilling operations on a routine basis in a team-based work environment.
Collate, interpret and transfer digital geologic data for use in Mine Technical Services planning.
Modeling and reporting 20%Modify the mine geology model from core logging on a regular basis
Communicate applicable geologic information to Mine Planning and Geotechnical engineers
Assist in yearly geologic map updates
Contribute to special projects; e.g., NARD, rock crusher, sampling, drilling supervision, generation of geologic cross sections, etc.
Develop and maintain appropriate project documentation
Interact with personnel and external consultants for interpretation of geology and geologic informationOther DutiesParticipation in the safety culture, Handling triple tubed core, (5' long, 30-50 lbs.), Extended periods of time standing, Working outdoors for long periods in a mine environment.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Geology or related field.
Candidates should have 1-3 years of basic geologic work experience including mapping, preferably in a porphyry copper mining application.
MSHA certification preferred
