Continental Heavy Civil is looking for a Safety Manager to perform the daily operations. As an experienced safety professional, you will be tasked with implementing CHC's Health and Safety Management program to ensure a safe working environment. This position will be for Broward County, FL, and the Southern Florida region.
Responsibilities:
* Develop and implement comprehensive safety management systems tailored to marine and construction environments.
* Create safety policies and procedures that comply with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines, Maritime Regulations, and other relevant standards.
* Be able to collaborate with the project management team by suggesting safe work practices as part of preplanning and training phase.
* Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards associated with marine and construction operations.
* Develop and execute risk mitigation strategies and emergency response procedures.
* Monitor the effectiveness of risk control measures and adjust as needed.
* Plans, implements, manages, and maintains comprehensive environmental safety and health programs on premises or at project site locations.
* Guarantees that all work is performed in accordance with approved manuals, internal policies and procedures, contract documents, and good engineering practices.
* Conduct regular safety audits and inspections with the project management team to ensure adherence to all applicable safety regulations and standards.
* Prepare and present reports on safety performance and compliance to project management.
* Plans, implements, and conducts preventative care, safety, and compliance training programs.
* Lead investigations into accidents and near miss incidents to determine root cause and implement corrective actions.
* Ensure all new hires receive comprehensive safety induction training, conduct daily safety meetings, and be able to present material to large groups of employees.
* Participates and leads team meetings and provides daily onsite project presence.
* From time to time, accompany USACE consisting of safety, health, and insurance inspections on tours of the project.
* Maintains safety files and records (on project share point site - daily)
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's Degree
* Must be able to clear drug screening and E-Verify
* Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
* Bilingual (English and Spanish)
* Proven ability to train and lead diverse teams.
* Specific projects may require US Government security clearance.
Physical Requirements:
* Must be able to visit and navigate construction and marine operations sites.
* Ability to handle various weather conditions, noise, and the physical aspects of a construction and marine working environment.
* Must be able to perform the following duties: sitting, standing, moving, climbing, use stairs, ladders, step stools and reach with hands and arms for long period times.
* Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds
* Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus

Experience:
* Safety Manager: 5 years' experience.
* Safety Professional: 4 years' experience
License/Certification:
* Driver's License (required)
* First Aid, CPR, AED & BBP Certification
* OSHA 30-hour Construction Industry
* EM385-1-1 40hr
* Familiar with Maritime Industry, highly desirable
