ResponsibilitiesAs a Director, Human Resources, you'll provide strategic human resources advice, guidance and leadership across assigned W.R. Berkley businesses. The position is responsible for the successful execution and legal compliance of human resources practices and policies.
We'll Count On You For
  • Leadership in the development and implementation of operating unit HR strategy and OU strategic business plans.
  • Works in partnership with VP, Human Resources, Presidents, and Segment EVPs to develop a solid people strategy that enhances the OU’s business strategy.
  • Skilled at managing employee relations matters and sensitive personnel cases while demonstrating high level professional skills to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Assist in the development and integration of new HR policies, procedures, systems, and practices.
  • Provide leadership and guidance on issues relating to equality and diversity and champion the companies’ commitment to equality and diversity. Lead the diversity initiatives at the OUs.
  • Undertake appropriate risk assessment in the human resources area at departmental and functional levels.
  • Provide dynamic and effective leadership and day-to-day management of the various human resources activities specifically focusing on employee relations and employee development.
  • Play an active role in supporting innovation and change across operating units.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required from accredited college or university or equivalent work experience.
  • 7 years’ experience in Human Resources/Recruitment experience required.
  • HR certification preferred.
  • Problem solving— identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner and gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Gives recommendations for solutions.
  • Strategic agility – Influences business leaders, can maneuver ambiguous situations with confidence and exhibits willingness to handle new experiences.
  • Communication—Speaks persuasively in positive or negative situations, demonstrates group presentation skills and conducts meetings.
  • Planning - Prioritizes and plans work activities, uses time efficiently and develops realistic action plans.
