Conviva is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Network Engineer to drive our hybrid cloud infrastructure and ensure the reliable, secure, and scalable delivery of our products and services. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the network infrastructure that supports our on-prem and cloud services. You will lead a team of network engineers, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless network connectivity, high availability, and optimal performance across our distributed systems.
As a Staff Network Engineer, you will play a crucial role in shaping and scaling our network architecture to meet the growing demands of our business. The ideal candidate should also be a strong technical leader with a strong engineering background and discipline, a passion for cloud and on-premises infrastructure and a proven track record of building and scaling highly reliable and resilient networks to support Internet scale data platform and applications.
*This position will be based in our Foster City, CA office.
What Success Will Look Like:
  • Network Infrastructure Design: Develop and maintain network architecture and design principles for on-prem and cloud-based environments to ensure scalability, reliability, and security.
  • Network Implementation: Lead the implementation and deployment of network solutions, including switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers, and other networking components.
  • Performance Optimization: Monitor and analyze network performance, proactively identifying bottlenecks and implementing optimizations to maximize network efficiency and user experience.
  • Network Security: Collaborate with the security team to implement and maintain network security policies, access controls, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
  • High Availability and Disaster Recovery: Design and implement redundancy, failover, and disaster recovery strategies to ensure uninterrupted network services.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Utilize infrastructure automation tools such as Terraform and Ansible to define and provision network resources, enabling scalable and reproducible network deployments.
  • GitOps: Implement GitOps principles for network configuration management, ensuring that network changes are version controlled, auditable, and automated through CI/CD pipelines.
  • Team Leadership: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to a team of network engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other teams, including software development, operations, and infrastructure, to understand their network requirements and design solutions that meet their needs.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Create and maintain accurate network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and operational procedures. Prepare regular reports on network performance, availability, and capacity.
  • Emerging Technologies: Stay updated on the latest networking trends, tools, and technologies. Evaluate and recommend new technologies that can enhance our network infrastructure and drive business growth.
Who You Are & What You've Done:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.
  • Extensive experience (6 years) working as a network engineer in a large-scale enterprise environment, with a focus on SaaS businesses.
  • In-depth knowledge of network protocols, routing (including BGP, OSPF), switching, firewall technologies, load balancing (F5/A10 and Cloud based load balancer), and VPN technologies.
  • Strong experience with on-premises and cloud networking platforms (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
  • Proven expertise in designing and implementing scalable network architectures for high availability and performance.
  • Experience with network monitoring and analysis tools for performance optimization and troubleshooting (e.g., Wireshark, SolarWinds, Nagios).
  • Solid understanding of network security principles, including firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and access control mechanisms.
  • Proficiency in infrastructure automation tools such as Terraform and Ansible for defining and provisioning network resources.
  • Experience with GitOps principles and tools, ensuring version control and automated deployment of network configurations.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead and mentor a team of network engineers effectively.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think critically and make sound decisions under pressure.
The expected salary range for this full-time position is $160,000 - $250,000 equity benefits. Compensation and the specific job level are determined by various factors, including your qualifications, experience, and relevant education or training.
