This position manages the day-to-day resources and provides leadership for the CRI Clinical Project Management team in order to achieve Cook global business needs.
Perform duties of a Clinical Project Manager;
Achieve clinical study objectives by working with Clinical Project Management team members to set project priorities and milestones, while resolving project conflicts;
Provide proper employee oversigt while encouraging and fostering employee development through mentorship and training;
Provide leadership in accordance with company policies, procedures, applicable laws and regulations that apply to your business activities;
Develop and maintain a working knowledge of study specific and general disease pathology;
Ensure that team activities comply with quality systems procedures, applicable standards, and clinical systems;
Maintain an expertise with reporting software and data management systems;
Review current clinical processes and offer suggestions for improvement;
Participate in the global clinical function process improvement strategies;
Work with HR to recruit, interview, select, hire and orient new employees;
Plan and allocate resources to effectively staff and accomplish work to meet functional and company expectations for productivity and quality goals;
Foster an environment where the giving and receiving of feedback is encouraged;
Facilitate the annual employee performance review process coordinated by HR. Encourage employee contributions through goal setting, feedback and performance development planning;
Consult HR to document, administer and resolve employee disciplinary action if required;
Maintain ongoing communication with employees through team meetings, one-on-one meetings, email, and other appropriate forms of communication;
Review and approve employee requests through appropriate pathways and according to company policies (e.g. expense reports, purchase orders, PTO approval, education and tuition assistance, and hardware/software workflows);
Establish trusted relationships with Cook colleagues, management, and external stakeholders by providing respectful, mindful and purposeful communication and maintaining a commitment to exceeding expectations; and
Understand, practice and model the principles of honesty and integrity as outlined in the Cook Global Code of Conduct.
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree (scientific-, health-, or business-related field preferred) plus significant relevant experience is required;
Master's degree with demonstrated research or project management background is preferred;
Previous experience in the conduct of medical device/drug clinical studies (including a knowledge of applicable regulations and standards) is preferred;
Ability to exercise sound judgment in independent decision making;
Outstanding work ethic and strong personal discipline;
Ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders (e.g., study team, physicians, scientists, division representative) in a professional and personable demeanor;
Capability to handle multiple projects and responsibilities;
Proficient in the following skill sets: time management, leadership, written and verbal communication, problem-solving (e.g., root cause analysis, lean management);
Sufficiently assertive to deal with confrontational situations;
Experience working in a team setting;
Willingness and ability to travel, as needed;
Mentor/coach direct reports and others in the clinical function in both the theory aspect and development of professional working relationships; and
Participate in the global clinical function process improvement strategies.
