JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Case Management Supervisor

Location: Anchorage, AK-Main Office

Department: Recovery and Reentry Services

Reports To: Outpatient Program Manager

Supervises: Adult Outpatient Clinical Staff

FLSA Status:Exempt 

Pay Grade: E5 

Job Type: Full-Time, Regular

General Functions:

The Case Management Supervisor is responsible for oversight and leadership of an assigned Recovery Services (RS) case management team, which provides case management support within program settings and in the community for participants. CITC case management services support participants across the continuum of care at CITC. This position provides direct services, supervises the assigned case management staff, ensures accurate delivery of services, monitors grant services and operations in congruence with the treatment philosophy, and ensures the approach and service delivery model complies with State and CARF standards to monitor and achieve program goals and objectives. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support management in the development, revision, and maintenance of the applicable programs’ operating policies and procedures, as needed.
  • Maintain a safe environment of care and ensure compliance with health and safety standards and policies.
  • Ensure a complete orientation schedule is created and adhered to for new-hire training, to include relevant case management competencies.
  • Supervise case managers across the RS continuum.
  • Oversee and support consistency in RS's philosophy of care and service delivery.
  • Monitor and provide supervision and feedback to case management staff regarding service delivery skills.
  • Oversee and support relevant documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) for content and timeliness, to include review and approval of such documentation.
  • Oversee that case manager caseloads are filled and maintained to meet utilization targets and grant requirements.
  • Train, oversee, and provide guidance utilizing relevant aspects of the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Create staff development and individual learning plans.
  • Conduct 90 day and annual performance evaluations.
  • Ability to identify emergency issues and respond appropriately. 
  • Ensure timely submission of all ASAP reports, including ASAP miscellaneous note entry into the AKAIMS system.
  • Assist in providing information for grants and department reports.
  • Maintain an active presence and availability in outpatient office for participant and staff needs.
  • Participate in weekly case staffing to review participant progress, transitional planning needs, and treatment plan updates with the larger treatment team.
  • Fulfill responsibilities during staff vacancies.
  • Work cohesively with other supervisors, managers, and contractors to ensure the unit's quality of care.
  • Attend off-site, staff, and other department meetings.
  • Maintain confidentiality according to all state and federal regulations and procedures, including 42 CFR Part 2 and HIPAA.
  • Dedicate a portion of work dedicated to direct service delivery.
  • Other duties as needed and assigned.

Job Responsibilities Related to Participant Privacy

  • Employee is expected to actively participate in CITC privacy training and to protect the privacy of participant information in accordance with CITC's privacy policies, procedures, and practices, as required by federal and state law. Failure to comply with CITC's policies and procedures on participant privacy may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
  • Employee may access protected health information and other participant information only to the extent necessary to complete job duties. Employee may only share such information on a need-to-know basis with others who have job responsibilities related to treatment, payment, or other CITC operations.
  • Employee is encouraged and expected to report, without the threat of retaliation, any concerns regarding CITC's policies and procedures on participant privacy and any observed practices in violation of the policy to the designated Privacy Officer.

Job Specifications:

  • Strong competency in addictions and knowledge of ASAM criteria and application.
  • Strong competence, knowledge, and understanding of addiction and co-occurring disorders.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage crises.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate group and individual services.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide case management services in various settings (EG: office, community, outpatient/residential) in support of various levels of participant acuity.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and coordinate delivery of services for multiple participants simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise staff and offer effective clinical direction.
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically and problem solve complex situations.
  • Computer literacy in word processing, email, internet, spreadsheets, and case management systems. 
  • Knowledge and experience in addictions and co-occurring treatments.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of delivering trauma-informed care services.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations with multiple barriers.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or related field. 
  • Three (3) years of experience in providing case management services in the field of behavioral health, including providing services related to the treatment of addictions and co-occurring fields.
  • One (1) year of supervisory experience in the behavioral health field.
  • Continued employment is contingent upon completion of a satisfactory state and federal fingerprint background check, approved National Provider Identifier Standard (NPI) status, and state approval as a Qualified Addictions Professional (QAP).
  • Valid Alaska driver’s license and insurable under CITC’s automotive insurance, which requires a driver to be at least 21 years of age and has had a driver’s license for at least three years. 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Primarily works in an office setting, with extended periods of time at a desk and on a computer.
