Duties and Responsibilities:
- Patient Care:
- Prepare examination rooms, ensuring cleanliness and stocking necessary supplies.
- Escort patients to examination rooms and obtain their medical history, chief complaints, and vital signs.
- Assist podiatrists if needed during patient examinations and procedures.
- Reinforce education for patients on post-treatment care, including proper foot hygiene and follow-up instructions.
- Administrative Support:
- Schedule patient appointments, surgeries, and follow-up visits.
- Manage patient records, ensuring accurate documentation and maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Handle phone calls, inquiries, and relay messages to the podiatrist as necessary.
- Obtain insurance information, verify coverage, and assist with insurance pre-authorization processes.
- Collect patient payments as needed.
- Diagnostic and Therapeutic Support:
- Prepare and sterilize podiatric instruments and equipment.
- Assist with procedures, such as in-office surgery, laser, and shockwave therapy.
- Equipment and Inventory Management:
- Maintain inventory of medical supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels.
- Patient Education and Communication:
- Provide patients with educational materials and instructions related to podiatric conditions, treatments, and preventive measures.
- Communicate follow-up instructions to patients.
- Collaboration and Teamwork:
- Coordinate with other healthcare professionals, such as nurses, physicians, and physical therapists, to ensure seamless patient care.
- Assist in training and mentoring new medical assistants, as required.
- Collaborate with front office staff to facilitate patient flow, appointment scheduling, and billing processes.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a Medical Assistant program with certification is preferred
- Medical X-ray Operator certification is preferred.
- Experience working in a podiatry or related medical setting is an advantage.
- Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical billing software.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines.
- Basic proficiency in performing clinical procedures and using medical equipment.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and work in a private practice
