This position has primary accountability for managing all activities related to the procurement of Capital Equipment in support of CoorsTek’s global operations. Reporting to the Senior Manager Capital Expenditures, the Category Manager will lead the development and execution of category sourcing strategies to leverage suppliers and associated spend, achieve strategic value for CoorsTek’s operations.

This role will have responsibility for the long-term success of supply and sourcing initiatives in Capital Projects to support effective and efficient supply chains. The key focus will be on leveraging spend, utilizing strategic sourcing, category management and supplier performance management processes and tools to deliver value.

The role will provide functional leadership to regional Supply Chain managers. In this role you will partner with associates in Engineering, Procurement, Logistics Operations, Trade Compliance and Supply Chain to develop, recommend, and support Strategic Sourcing Plans, Supplier Selection, Contracting, Negotiation Plans, and Supplier Relationship Management activities to deliver value to the business. Success in this role will be defined by mitigating risk, reducing costs, strong functional competencies, creating value for our internal customers, developing strong relationships with business and suppliers while protecting confidential CoorsTek technology.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Capital Equipment Sourcing:

• Manage $30-$50MM in Capital Project spend by supporting Engineering and Operations, driving sourcing activities for Capital projects throughout initiation, study phase, pre-project phase, detailed engineering, and execution phase.
• Partner with global engineering to establish a global sourcing strategy for major capital projects; engage business leaders and suppliers to understand their needs.
• Lead negotiations with equipment and equipment service related suppliers to ensure CoorsTek gets the best overall value.
• Develop innovative sourcing arrangements to reduce capital project costs and risks.
• Responsible for the identification and implementation of innovation and value creation opportunities within the capital projects to improve performance.
• Drive standardization of procurement processes, policies, and best practices into the Capital Categories.
• Own or facilitate the negotiation and implementation of all global, country, or regional contracts with new and existing suppliers to mitigate risk, establish favorable commercial terms and maximize savings opportunities in support of the category strategy and in partnership with the business.
• Develop and drive programs to deliver value improvements on spare and maintenance part inventory and stocking rates.
• Effective management of capital buying projects within a manufacturing environment; RFP/RFQ, supplier selection, project execution, cost and timing management, and project close activities.

Job Requirements:

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Business or related field required. Master’s preferred.

Experience:

• Minimum 5-7 years demonstrated experience procuring large dollar capital equipment and services in a manufacturing/engineering setting.
• Expertise across the full lifecycle of strategic sourcing and corporate procurement activities including sourcing strategies, RFP development & analysis, supplier selection, contract negotiations, contract preparation, and review and analysis.

Functional/Technical Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Experience in strategic sourcing analysis and implementation.
• Experience in creation, negotiation, and administration of contracts.
• Must be experienced in strategic sourcing and have a proven background of successful sourcing strategy implementation.
• Familiarity with industrial manufacturing processes and machinery.
• Ability to:
• Effectively communicate and influence while building a functional network of individuals and teams across organizations, including procurement, engineering, quality, and manufacturing.
• Work independently and as a member of cross-functional teams.
• Read/review engineering specifications for RFPs.
• Ability to deliver effective business results in a regional and global team environment.
• Deep knowledge and ability in developing and leading a category sourcing strategy.
• Experience with:
• Formal sourcing methodologies.
• Using e-sourcing tools to execute and manage sourcing projects.
• Reviewing and negotiating complex agreements.
• Ability to develop and implement a well-thought-out sourcing strategy.
• Must demonstrate significant experience in project management and show successes in deployment of systems/processes.
• Competence in cost reduction and process improvement.
• Strong communication skills to effectively communicate at all organizational levels and with outside suppliers.
• Strong analytical and strategic problem-solving capabilities (MS Excel power user).
• Proficient computer skills to include Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Strong negotiation skills, proven savings track record.
• Ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $100,000.00 - $132,000.00 per year
