Coppell, City of (TX) is Hiring a CD- RESIDENTIAL/COMMERCIAL INSPECTOR Near Coppell, TX

Join the dynamic team at the City of Coppell as a Residential/Commercial Inspector! In this role, you'll play a crucial part in ensuring the safety and compliance of residential and commercial constructions within our city. Conducting inspections, performing building plan reviews, and investigating complaints are just a few of the diverse responsibilities you'll handle. Our city values employee development, fostering a growth-oriented environment where personal leadership flourishes. You'll engage in continuous learning, building relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, and contributing to a culture of credibility.  Providing expertise in building, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing codes, you'll serve as a resource to contractors, builders, and the general public. Your role extends beyond inspections; you'll assist with special projects, enforce city codes, conduct Certificate of Occupancy inspections, and handle complaint filings with state agencies when necessary. Flexibility is key – you may need to lift heavy loads, work in various weather conditions, and be available for after-hours and weekend inspections for emergency projects. Schedule Commitment 
The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Occasional overtime evenings, weekends, and holidays may occur. 

Pay Plan
This opportunity is non-exempt and on Pay Grade #11. The full Pay Grade Range is shown for growth and development opportunities within the grade. Salary determination is supported by budget availability and qualifications of the candidate to maintain internal equity. 
Hiring Range: Min-Max

Min $24.79 ($51,570.27)

Mid $30.37 ($63,167.52)

Max $35.94 ($74,764.77)

Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Valid State of Texas Driver's License with a good driving record.

  • Must have a current State of Texas Plumbing Inspector’s License, or the ability to obtain within 12 months post-hire for continued employment.

  • ICC certifications in building code disciplines, or the ability to be obtained.
