Our firm is currently recruiting a new Director – Accounting role for a $150MM non-profit based in the Alexandria, VA area. This role has high visibility and will report internally to the Corporate Controller. This position will manage 4 staff and oversee financial reporting, accounting operations, assisting with tax returns, annual budgeting, compliance, overseeing NetSuite financial systems reporting and interfacing with external auditors.

Key Responsibilities/Essential Duties of Position:

Oversee the general ledger and ensure a timely monthly close;

Responsible for generating the monthly financial statements and ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness;

Support the Controller with the annual independent audits (financial statement, Pension Plan, and 403(b);

Support the preparation of the annual Form 990 tax return and related state returns;

Work cross-functionally with other departments within the firm for various projects and initiatives;

Responsible for developing and maintaining effective policies and procedures that reflect well-balanced internal controls;

Develop a high-performing Accounting Team;

Participate in various business processes and technology integration initiatives;

Position Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance;

CPA preferred but not required;

Must have 3 years of supervisory experience;

Willingness to be hands on and work closely with the details, prepare complex journal entries;

Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and deadlines;

Must have excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization;

Experience with NetSuite preferred but not required.
