Cordia Resources by Cherry Bekaert is partnered with healthcare-focused private equity firm who is seeking an accomplished finance and accounting professional to join their team.Title: Finance ManagerLocation: Washington, DC (4 days on-site)Salary Range: $130-140k salary 30% bonusJob Type: PermanentIn this role, you will hold a rotational position spending time responsible for 1) managing the corporate accounting and consolidation, financial reporting and 2) managing the accounting and reporting for the firm’s private equity funds. This individual will interact with all levels of the firm. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who wants to get involved in multiple aspects of the entire operations and economic flow of a private equity manager and its funds.The Finance Manager will initially report to the CFO/CCO of the firm, while holding the corporate position. Here is a list of the responsibilities for the two roles you will rotate between:Corporate/Manager Operations:
  • Responsible for all accounting entries and reporting adjustments for the funds’ general partners (“GPs”), their affiliated entities and the management company.
  • Prepare the consolidation and related financial statements for the consolidated parent. Act as key point person for the two year-end audit engagements for the consolidation vehicle and separate Special Purpose Vehicles (“SPV”) for a stakeholder.
  • Assist with the preparation and maintenance of the annual budget and cash forecast updated each quarter.
  • Manage the stakeholder reporting requirements each quarter, which include (but not limited to) capital account statements, distribution support, forecasts, tax estimate deliverables, etc.
  • Manage the treasury function of the corporate entities by assuring cash is moved and available to fund Martis’s corporate financial obligations.
  • Work closely with the fund controller on capital calls for expenses due to the management company.
  • Responsible for the AP, cash reconciliations, and other financial administrative functions.
Fund Operations:
  • Manage fund accounting operations and be primary point of contact with fund administrator, including quarterly and annual fund financial statements and reporting
  • Support investment activity (deal closings and realizations)
  • Calculation, distribution and tracking of capital calls
  • Oversee the calculation of income allocations and distributions in accordance with the waterfall mechanics outlined in the funds’ partnership agreements
  • Support the audit process and timely support of independent auditors
  • Support annual federal and state tax compliance (using outside preparers)
  • Assist with the preparation of regulatory filings and related compliance reporting
  • Assist with fund-level budgeting, forecasting, and performance tracking
  • Special project support alongside the leadership team
Qualifications
  • 4-7 years of relevant public accounting and/or alternative asset management experience with partnership accounting and tax
  • CPA preferred, but not required
  • Professional maturity and unquestioned high integrity; sound judgement
  • Highly collaborative individual who is a self-starter with the ability to multi-task and prioritize among competing demands; ability to wear multiple hats and be both a “thinker” and a “doer”
  • Desire to contribute to the building of a successful firm, resourcefulness, initiative, and a can-do attitude
  • Intellectual rigor, curiosity, honesty, and humility
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
