Job Title: Payroll Specialist

Job Type: Contract (1 year project)

Location: Alexandria, VA (In-office on Tues/Wed/Thurs, Remote on Mon/Fri)

Pay: Market rates

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team for a 1-year project. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience and a bachelor's degree. CPA or CIA is preferred. The candidate should also have a minimum of 2 years’ experience at a Senior Accounting/Analyst/Auditor level related to engagements for financial institutions, real estate, public and/or private sector, Federal, State or Local government or other specialized area defined by a task order.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and process payroll for employees of the organization
  • Ensure accuracy of payroll data and resolve any discrepancies
  • Process and distribute payroll checks, direct deposits, and tax withholdings
  • Stay up-to-date on federal, state, and local payroll regulations
  • Prepare payroll reports and analysis
  • Assist with audits and provide support to auditors
  • Liaise with HR and other departments to ensure accurate payroll information
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience
  • CPA or CIA preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience at a Senior Accounting/Analyst/Auditor level related to engagements for financial institutions, real estate, public and/or private sector, Federal, State or Local government or other specialized area defined by a task order.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

This is a 1-year project starting in May 2024 and ending in May 2025. The Payroll Specialist will work in-office on Tues/Wed/Thurs and remotely on Mon/Fri, with no flexibility on the schedule. We offer market rates and a great work environment.
