The Vocational Instructor performs instructionalservices of vocational and / or occupational subjects, such asbusiness, computers / technology, carpentry, plumbing and tradeswhich are designed to help inmates / students learn specified subjectmatter and acquire vocationalskills.

Prepare course objectives following curriculumstandards and applicable requirements bycontract.

Plan and document a program of study that meets theindividual needs and abilities of students.

Provide instruction using handouts, texts, audiovisualaids and other materials. Evaluate students' performance and issueprogress reports as required.

Assist students with additionalinstruction asneeded.

Qualifications :

High School diploma, GEDcertification or equivalent is required.

Three years of full-time,wage-earning experience in the subject vocational trade or incareer readiness skills to include technical trade experience;

orthree years of experience as a certified instructor teaching in thespecific trade or subject area isrequired.

Must possess or be eligible forcertification and / or license, or other credentials required bycontract and / or state ofemployment.

Continued employmentin this position will be contingent upon obtaining and / ormaintaining required agencycredentials.

Must have the abilityto give clear instructions in the trade and / or vocationalarea.

Experience in Microsoft Officeapplications is required.

A valid driver's license is required.

Instructors teaching Computers orHorticulture may substitute a Bachelor's degree in the field ofstudy related to the work assignment for the experiencerequirement.

Minimum age requirement : Mustbe at least 18 years of age.
