AE / DDE6000 Job Summary

This position will oversee the general working efficiency and discipline within the Engine department. You will maintain and repair work on board to achieve efficient performance of the main engine, auxiliary machinery, and deck machinery including deck winch, emergency generator, anchor windlass, lifeboat davit, lifeboat motor, and tuggers.

AE / DDE6000 Responsibilities

• Ensure engineers and engine room ratings are familiar with tasks, standing orders, and instructions including emergency procedures
• Issue Standing Orders upon joining the vessel; ensure engineers understand the orders
• Issue Night Orders every night in Chief Engineer s Night Order Book to supplement the existing standing orders
• Maintain all engine room logs, monthly reports, running hours, Oil Record Book, Garbage Record Log, fuel samples, oil analysis, and coolant analysis
• Monitor and check sludge / bilge tank levels for any abnormal increase
• Carry out automation testing per the vessel s automation test procedures booklet
• Monitor and operate the Oily Water Separator, check operation and maintenance of pumps, motors, and blowers
• Collaborate with the Maintenance Department on the upkeep, inspection records, checks, operation, maintenance and spares status of the machinery and equipment
• Maintain housekeeping of engineering spaces
• Manage the bunkering of the vessel to ensure quantity and quality, proper logs are made in the oil record book, and proper fuel transfer procedures and permits to work are completed
