Guest Guru (Customer Service/Dining Room Attendant)

As a Guest Guru, you set the positive vibe in our restaurant. You are often the first person our customers interact with. We rely on our Gurus to welcome our customers with a robust “Welcome to Cornbread!,” take their order, make them feel welcome, and work the line to prepare their orders. High energy, a warm smile, a love of people, a constant willingness to help, reliability, and willingness to work as part of a team are essential attributes of the Guru position.

Duties Include but are not limited to:

• Anticipate, understand, and respond to all guest needs and requests in a timely and professional manner

• Use the point-of-service terminals

• Handle cash and make change

• Understand all menu items, assist guests with ordering, answer questions, and make menu suggestions

• Work as a team with the management staff to provide guest services such as maintaining the dining room, restocking condiments/utensils, and providing basic upkeep of the restaurant areas during the shift.

• Perform general duties associated with setting up/breaking down areas and stations in the restaurant to start or close a shift.

• Maintain the safety of the guests and the security of the restaurant by immediately reporting all suspicious occurrences and hazardous conditions within and around the perimeter of the restaurant.

• Practice safe work habits to avoid injury to self and others.

• Perform other tasks and duties as assigned

• Maintain a clean work area.

• Obtain a serve-safe certification.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• Able to be detail-oriented, focused on guest service, safety-minded, trustworthy, reliable, and efficient

Physical Requirements:

• Able to move, walk, and be on your feet during your shift

• Able to work indoors and outdoors throughout the shift. Gurus spend approximately 70% of the shift in a temperature-controlled environment, 20% in outdoor areas, and the remaining 10% in kitchen, prep, or storage areas

• Required to handle and move objects weighing up to 30 lbs. over short to moderate distances. Bending, stooping, reaching, and pushing may be required to perform routine tasks.

• If applicable, climb stairs, and climb a step stool or ladder.
