POSITION: Behavioral Intervention Support Team (BIST) Consultant
DEPARTMENT: Education (Gillis)
Salary: $48,000 - $55,000 (Annually)
(Starting salary depends on education and experience)

PURPOSE:
To train and support adults in interacting with (PreK-12) youth on the specific concepts of the Behavioral Intervention Support Team (BIST) Model and support staff members in the implementation of the BIST Model. The BIST Consultant also problem-solves with individual teachers, families, and residential staff regarding youth and behavioral concerns. BIST Consultants work with all stakeholders in order to help all adults be on the same page philosophically.

Responsibilities:

• Serves as a member of the BIST Program and potentially work with public and private school personnel, along with families and residential staff.
• Assist with conducting appropriate workshops, seminars and in-service training.
• Participates in ongoing research being conducted on the BIST Model, help prepare materials for publication etc.
• Supports the entire BIST Team in ongoing needs within the team.
• Coaches staff or family either individually or as a group on skills needed to be effective with youth.
• Provides support to school counselors, social workers, and residential therapists.
• Travels overnight to provide services to schools outside the regional location of Consultant. This could include up to or beyond 5 nights per month.
• Other duties as requested and assigned.

Qualifications:

• Education Level: Bachelor's Degree
• Other minimum requirements: Years of Experience: 5 to 8 years
• Knowledge regarding daily work with youth that struggle with behavior.
• Knowledge of how to coach adults in supporting youth that struggle with behavior.
• Knowledge of the specific components of the BIST Model.
• Knowledge of how public and private schools work regarding policy of difficult children.
• Knowledge of best practices for residential interactions and positive family supports.
• Must be at least 21 years of age and pass background check, physical and drug screening. This position also requires a valid driver’s license and proof of current vehicle insurance.
