Who we are and what we do:
The Tennessee Department of Correction operates and oversees 14 adult prisons across the state, housing some 21,000 offenders. In the community, TDOC supervises 79,000 offenders on probation, parole, or community corrections. The department operates 44 probation/parole offices in 13 districts across the state. The Tennessee Department of Correction operates safe and secure facilities and provide effective community supervision in support of successful reentry.
Job Overview:
The Correctional Program Director position assists in coordinating the daily administrative services of institutional compliance. Duties and responsibilities include oversight of institutional policy compliance and American Correctional Association (ACA) standards compliance for accreditation. Oversees the daily operations of the Food Service Department for all TDOC facilities
Key Responsibilities:
Reviewing invoices from the Vendor, distributing them to the Fiscal Directors at each institution, reviewing any deductions/corrections made at the local level to ensure they are valid, and compiling the invoice and submitting it for payment. Meeting with our Food Service Vendor to discuss daily issues brought up by the Warden, Fiscal Director, and other staff at each institution. Visiting each institution multiple times per month to monitor the services being provided by the vendor for contract adherence. Monitoring the state of all kitchen equipment/kitchen supplies (pans, trays, sporks, cups, etc.) to verify all equipment is working and has been maintained/repaired/replaced by the vendor as needed. Conduct quarterly meetings with the vendor, AC of Finance, and the appropriate DC to discuss the overall status of the Food Service Operations and resolve any current issues. Work with the Contracting Section when contract amendments or extensions are needed. Ensure the quarterly menus are reviewed by the TDOC Dietician and that they are in compliance with TDOC Policy. Review and update policy as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree with five (5) years of correctional experience. Must be a Licensed Dietician. Must be proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and able to perform complex reconciliations and prepare complex financial activity reports. Must have strong oral and written communication skills with superior organizational skills. Must be able to work effectively as part of a team and independently with all levels of state staff.
