Cortland is Hiring an Interiors Manager - Greater DC/Virginia Near Arlington, VA

As an Interiors Manager, you help the Project Manager ensure smooth transitions on all daily construction-related matters for the renovations and new construction plans of multi-million dollar, multifamily apartment home communities.

The Builder

  • Know how to incorporate super intricate building science concepts into multifamily homes, including envelope sealing, mechanical systems, insulation, energy efficiency, windows, and siding
  • Always enjoyed building new structures as a kid - and still find the childlike wonder in designing master plans for new developments
  • Familiar with accepted building practices including techniques, code requirements, market pricing, and permitting processes
  • Perform due diligence walks with the Project Manager, assessing property conditions, marking up site plans, and estimating repair costs for completing each project

The Task Master

  • Assist the Project Manager with all the necessary project schedules to monitor, construction meetings to conduct, stakeholders to update, and RFIs, submittal, and close-out logs to maintain
  • Help procure construction services, award contracts, pay contractors, and help produce AIA industry-standard documents, and contract documents
  • Have the Project Manager’s back in terms of meeting agreed-upon project budgets and schedules, overseeing construction activities, and communicating with organizational stakeholders
  • Check items off your to-do list all day long, while managing countless details like a whiz

The Talent Scout

  • Assist with the procurement of construction services, including contract award and buyout
  • Enjoy searching high and low for valuable employee and contractor additions to your team
  • Create a welcoming space for new team members, ensuring they have a smooth ride for the duration of their contract
  • Coordinate and inspect contractors’ work, identifying tasks that can be performed in a cheaper, safer, cleaner, or more efficient manner

The Impact You Can Make

  • Projects at your community are completed on time, within budget, at the highest quality, and with a green emphasis.
  • The operational success rate for the projects you support have never been higher, thanks to your close attention to detail and recommendations for improvement.
  • The Project Manager raves about your timely and creative solutions to construction, renovation, and contractor challenges.
  • Stellar record in real estate, specifically in the construction field
  • Proven project coordination skills for each stage of construction and renovation
  • Strong analytical problem-solving and costing skills
  • Able to communicate effectively with a diverse array of people
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Project) and Timberline
