Cosmic Robotics is a robotics startup developing autonomous construction technologies to accelerate Earth’s transition to renewable infrastructure and to expand humanity beyond Earth. The mission starts with the development of autonomous construction robots which will help install the 600 million solar panels planned to be installed on utility-scale solar farms by 2030 in the United States. Cosmic-1 is a fully autonomous outdoor construction robot capable of navigating solar construction sites and installing solar panels at over 10x faster rates than current methods, a critical technology needed to achieve the US’s aggressive renewable energy goals.
About the Role
Cosmic Robotics is seeking founding engineers to join our team of ex-NASA, SpaceX, Autodesk, Built Robotics, and Relativity Space founders in building the world’s most advanced outdoor robots and a company that will transform the construction industry.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who thrives in ambiguity, is comfortable working in both an office setting and in the field, and is excited to build the future of humanity.
Responsibilities

-- Travel to customer sites to deploy robots in the field
-- Recruit and build a world-class engineering organization
Requirements
-- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field
-- 3 years of professional engineering experience
-- Strong understanding of robotics concepts such as:
-- Advanced knowledge of C , Python, and developing in a Linux environment
-- Basic understanding of electronics, communication protocols (CAN, Ethernet, etc.), motors, mechanisms, machine learning, and other robotics adjacent concepts
-- Experience working on hardware products
-- Excellent communication and project management skills
-- Strong drive to deliver on ambitious schedules
Nice to haves but not required
-- 5 years of professional engineering experience in robotics
-- Experience developing with ROS 2 and associated packages (Nav2, Moveit)
-- Experience simulating robots in environments such as Gazebo or Isaac Sim
-- Experience working with NVIDIA hardware and Isaac ROS packages
-- Experience working in cross-functional teams
