Coty is Hiring an Operations Director Near Hunt Valley, MD

OPERATIONS DIRECTOR HUNT VALLEY, MARYLAND COTY is looking for smart leaders who are fast and passionate. We are looking for an OPERATIONS DIRECTOR to join our site leadership team in Hunt Valley, Maryland. In this position, you will be responsible for overseeing all our Color Cosmetics and OTC Skincare manufacturing operations producing approximately 100M units annually. Leading a team of 8 direct reports, and approximately 100 indirect reports you will be responsible for all elements of the balanced scorecard including safety, quality, productivity, sustainability, on-time delivery, cost, and efficiency.

Our Hunt Valley Factory is the North American Center of Excellence for Color Cosmetics & OTC skincare products. We are proud to support some of Coty’s most iconic brands including COVERGIRL, Rimmel, Sally Hansen, Philosophy and Max Factor.
  • The Operations Director leads the site operations team and is part of the Plant Leadership Team.
  • This role reports into the Site General Manager.
  • Directing the operations team in the successful achievement of the committed production plan, through the daily direction setting process, hands on leadership, clear expectations and problem solving.
  • Setting operational targets and expectations and developing clear actions plans and processes to maximize the performance of manufacturing systems and production lines
  • Delivering financial commitments for conversion cost and indirect expenses through management of the direct labor, consumables, and equipment parts budgets
  • Collaborating with cross functional teams, to achieve exceptional results
  • Collaborating with the Site General Manager and Leadership team, in developing, and implementing site master plan to achieve step change operational results and operational transformation.
  • Collaborating with Operational Excellence leader, to build a strong culture of excellence and continuous improvement, and best in class processes to guarantee predictable and excellent operational performance.
  • Coaching and developing your team to improve performance
  • Collaborating with Engineering to identify capital investment strategy for the operation to drive improve costs, efficiency, and effective capacity utilization of equipment in support of business needs
  • Collaborating with the planning team to analyze short term and long-term production capacity needs and build an operational strategy to support the business demand.
  • Working with Human Resources to define the ideal operational organization, associated required capabilities and build a strong talent pool with clearly identified succession planning.
  • Ensuring 5S, Housekeeping and GMP standards are established and maintained across the site
  • Generating a high level of team engagement, commitment, and strong accountability within the operation
QualificationsWe’d love to see candidates who have:
Essential:
  • Bachelor’s degree in major technical field or Management required, Engineering degree preferred OR equivalent experience
  • 8 years of proven experience in a challenging and fast-paced manufacturing environment; preferably in the cosmetics, consumer goods or related field.
  • 5 years of leadership experience
  • Deep understanding of production packing processes, filling and bulk making techniques
  • Solid experience using continuous improvement tools and methodologies
  • Strong knowledge of Safety and QA standards
  • Proven ability to develop capabilities, to coach and develop talent
  • Excellent communication skills with all levels of the organization
  • An achievement focused hands-on leader capable of operating both deep in the details and highly strategic at the same time.
Desirable:
  • MBA or similar advanced degree
  • Experience with FDA approved manufacturing practices
  • Demonstrated experience in culture change & leadership of large multifunctional teams
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Working knowledge of SAP
