Council On Foreign Relations is Hiring an Internship, Global Business, Fall 2024 Near New York, NY

OverviewAll who are selected to participate in CFR’s Blavatnik Internship Program and Robina Franklin Williams Internship Program receive training in the field of foreign policy and international affairs as well as skills training in writing, research, program planning, and much more.
The Corporate Program, the Council’s primary point of contact with the private sector, enlists the business community’s participation in and support of the Council’s activities. Corporate members include nearly 200 U.S. and non-U.S. firms representing a wide range of business sectors, including financial services, law, manufacturing, consulting, technology, media, and others. Each year the program hosts over 70 events in New York and Washington.
CFR internships are paid, require a 14 - 18 hour commitment, and are filled on a rolling basis. CFR’s fall internship program gives interns the opportunity to choose whether to work in our office in a hybrid capacity (half in the office, and half remote), or on an offsite fully remote basis. The major responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to):
  • Assist staff with preparing materials for corporate members and prospective member outreach meetings
  • Monitoring member company news and announcements to help corporate member relations team identify upgrade opportunities and at-risk membership
  • Researching multinational companies that are current members or may be interested in joining the Corporate Program
  • Participating in the administration of conferences and meetings, including making follow-up phone calls to invitees and staffing events
  • Other departmental support as needed
Qualifications
  • Undergraduate student with a concentration in international relations, political science, business administration, finance, or related field
  • All applicants should have completed the equivalent of four semesters of college coursework (not including AP classes in high school) by the time they begin an internship)
  • Experience in a corporate environment and/or prior administrative experience preferred
  • Excellent research, writing, and communication skills
  • Database management skills highly preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel
Pay Rate$17.50 per hour
