Job Title : Technical Assistant for Patient Care Technician

Summary :

Responsible for assisting the CTE Patient Care Technician instructor in the planning and implementation of educational activities in addition to supporting student-related day-to-day operations of the classroom.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

• Support KRESA anti-bias, anti-racism principles, prioritizing equitable opportunity, program representation and support for all students
• Assist the CTE Patient Care Technician Instructor in the planning and implementation of educational activities.
• Supplement instruction by assisting the CTE Instructor with additional student supports (i.e. individual and small group instruction, drill activities, student accommodations, etc.).
• Provide and document instructional accommodations provided to support student success in the program (i.e. additional testing time, modified tests / assignments, reading assessments aloud, etc.).
• Assist with student supervision in lab and adherence to safety procedures and protocols.
• Meet with Student Engagement Coordinator monthly to discuss student progress.
• Assess Patient Care Technician related skills including, but not limited to : PPE, vital signs, gait belt, transfers, patient positioning, height, weight, I&O.
• Model Skill for Success and encourage their use by students
• Assist with work-based learning experiences
• Assist with student leadership development and related activities (e.g. HOSA)
• Attend professional development and other meetings as appropriate and requested.
• If needed, communicate with students, parents, CTE staff, and local school staff.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Maintain instructional / classroom records as requested / required.
• Maintain regular consistent attendance and punctuality.
• Maintain a professional personal appearance.
• Adhere to classroom health and safety procedures.
• Other duties as assigned by teacher / administration.

Education and / or Experience :

High school diploma or equivalent.

Recent and relevant work experience in patient care

American Heart Association BLS / FA certified

American Heart Association BLS / FA Instructor preferred (ability to get instructor certification)

Relevant industry certifications or credentials are beneficial.

Other Skill & Abilities :

Positive attitude toward high school students.

Safety mindset.

Excellent communication skills.

Basic computer skills.
