County of Marathon is Hiring a Library Page Near Wausau, WI

Job Posting End Date: 06-24-2024 Worker Sub-Type: Regular Scheduled Weekly Hours: 20 Come work at a place where innovation and teamwork come together to support the most exciting missions in the world! POSITION SUMMARY: This is a 20 hour per week position with the Support Services Team of the Headquarters Library in Wausau. The focus of the library page position is organizing and distributing library materials. The work is performed under the direction of the Lead Library Assistant/or the Library Support Services Manager. Hours for this position will be afternoon and evening hours, along with occasional Saturdays. Additional hours to attend meetings, workshops or to fill in for other staff may be required. QUALIFICATIONS: Working on or completed high school diploma or equivalent. Please note: If selected candidate is under the age of 16, a WI work permit is required before any work can be performed. Personal Characteristics: Patron focused Accurate Detail oriented Innovative Organized Self-starter Lifelong learner Strong analytical skills Good problem solver Technically savvy Team oriented Comfortable working in a multi-tasking environment Enjoys working with diverse populations Understands the role of the library in its community EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED: Sorts and shelves materials in proper order. Empties book return bins. Checks in materials as needed. Scans, straightens, and proofreads shelves to assure materials are in proper order. Pulls requested materials from shelves using reports. Unpacks materials coming into the library. Answers basic questions from customers in a pleasant manner. Recommends changes to processes and procedures to improve efficiency. Develops and maintains positive relationships with staff and customers. Maintains regular and predictable attendance; works extra hours as required. Performs related work as required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Ability to work with the public. Ability to work independently in an efficient manner to complete assigned tasks. Ability to communicate effectively orally, in writing and by listening. Ability to sort effectively in alphabetic or numeric order according to the Dewey Decimal system. An awareness of the library’s collection and its organization. Ability to stand for long periods and to bend and stretch to reach shelves. Task may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation and repetitive motions. Ability to lift 25-50 lbs. and push book carts weighing 50-100 lbs. Basic knowledge of computer hardware and software. COMPENSATION: Starting hourly rate: $13.60. This part-time position is not eligible for any benefits.
