ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Drive veterans to and from appointments at the Veterans Administration Medical Centers.
• Must be available 5:30 am – 5:30 pm on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday at minimum.
• Keeps a log of all trips and reports any incidents to the Veterans Service Officer.
• Assists disabled veterans in getting to the necessary areas at the medical centers.
• Cleans vehicle as needed.
• Performs minor, routine maintenance on the vehicles and checks for trouble/problem areas.
• Schedules necessary maintenance and repairs of the vehicles.
• Responsible for maintaining and using GSA Fleet card for payment or repairs.
• Stays up to date with all requirements for the operation of DAV vehicles before they come due.
• Access to Not Public Data – The incumbent may encounter not public data in the course of these duties. Any access to not public data should be strictly limited to accessing the data that are necessary to fulfill the employment responsibility. While data are being accessed, the incumbent should take reasonable measures to ensure the not public data are not accessed by individuals without a work reason. Once the work reason to access the data is reasonably finished, the incumbent must properly store the not public data according to the provisions of the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act (Minnesota Statutes, Chapter 13).

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs other work-related duties as required.
• If a new work assignment requires access to not public data, the incumbent is permitted to access not public data for work assignment purposes only. Any access to not public data must be strictly limited to the data necessary to complete the work assignment and after the assignment is completed, the employee’s work assignment no longer requires access.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must have and maintain the following:

• Minnesota State driver’s license.
• Proof of current Minnesota state vehicle insurance.
• Current driving record, a non-certified copy is okay.
• Status of initial COVID vaccine.
• Status of current flu vaccine, or must sign a form stating for religious or medical reasons they do not get the vaccine and will wear a mask during flu season.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

A high school diploma or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

At least one to two years of recent experience which provides the following skills and abilities:

• Must be able to pass the annual VA driver’s examination and complete VA background check and be able to show proof of being an insured motorist to ensure the ability to operate a motor vehicle in a safe and effective manner.
• The ability to perform basic, routine repair and maintenance functions on motor vehicles.
• Basic first aid and/or CPR certification (will be provided through County).
• The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. The ability to work with all types of people and personalities.
