ABOUT THE POSITION The County of Riverside's University Health System - Medical Center department seeks a Supervising Medical Transportation Technician to join their Non Emergency Transportation team.

  • Under direction, the incumbent will be responsible for managing a team of 30 drivers at the Medical Center and Arlington campus, overseeing Senior Medical Transportation Technicians' day-to-day tasks - including schedules, handling timecards and personnel issues as they arise, working with the team to make sure all of RUHS is supported - including clinics and hospital, managing the mailroom and the messengers, working directly with director to start "modernizing" department - including real time tracking and statistics, may have to drive or deliver items, including picking up and dropping off patients;
  • planning, coordinating and scheduling staff in the transportation of patients, equipment and materials to various destinations;

performing other related duties as assigned.

This position is located in Moreno Valley. Bilingual candidates with previous professional experience with Microsoft suite are highly preferred.

This position has a 9 / 80 : Monday to Friday, 7 : 00am - 4 : 30pm and may include occasional weekends. Meet the team! RUHS-MC EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Direct the operation of County vehicles to pick up, transport and deliver patients and materials to a variety of locations;

maintain records concerning transportation services provided and vehicle maintenance needs; ensure vehicles are maintained and properly operational and supplied.

Plan, schedule and coordinate staff in the transporting of patients, equipment and materials and in the collecting and distributing of mail;

evaluate the work performance of staff.

  • Recommend or implement procedural changes to improve services or operations; identify costs associated with operations and prepare budget.
  • Identify mechanical problems and arrange for maintenance to ensure vehicles are safe to operate; determine staffing needs;

track the condition and durability of vehicles and determine when new vehicles are required.

  • Serve as a resource for employees in resolving operational problems and provide training for employees; prepare necessary reports and assignment / service records.
  • Respond to client requests, questions and / or complaints relating to policies, procedures and service.
  • Monitor the quality of the RUHS-MC's medical transportation services; meet with departmental representatives to evaluate the quality of service.
  • Prepare written cost analysis, justifications and proposals for current and potential operational needs. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OPTION I Education : Graduation from high school or attainment of a satisfactory score on a G.E.D.

test. Experience : One year as a Senior Medical Transportation Technician with the County of Riverside. OPTION II Education : Graduation from high school or attainment of a satisfactory score on a G.E.D.

test. Experience : Two years of providing transportation and / or support services for a medical, health, senior citizen, social services, or similar community agency.

Completion of a recognized training program in basic patient care may be substituted for three months of the non-specialized experience.

Lead / Supervisory Experience : Six months of assigning, reviewing and coordinating the work of others. Other Requirements License : Possession of a valid California Driver's License.

  • Possession of valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certificates issued by the American Heart Association. ALL OPTIONS Knowledge of : The proper body mechanics in lifting and transferring patients;
  • operation and minor maintenance of medical transportation vehicles (e.g., bus or van); road rules and regulations. Ability to : Supervise including training, directing and evaluating of subordinates;
  • learn the principles, methods and procedures of proper patient transfer; learn medical facility practice and techniques;
  • perform patient movement in an understanding and sympathetic manner; follow oral and written directions; maintain records;
  • apply proper body mechanics in lifting, moving and assisting patients; review and evaluate the work of subordinates; effectively plan for a medical transportation unit's training and supply needs;

retain extensive records of unit activities and time; prepare a variety of statistical reports; maintain effective relationships with others.

Tier I (Classic Member - Formula 3% @ 60) : Applicable to current and former County of Riverside local miscellaneous employees hired prior to 08 / 24 / 2012 and did not withdraw CalPERS contributions.

The employee contribution is eight (8%) percent.

Tier II (Classic Member - Formula 2% @ 60) : Applicable to local miscellaneous employees 1) hired after 08 / 23 / 2012 through 12 / 31 / 2012;

2) Previously employed with another CalPERS contracting public agency or a reciprocal retirement system, with a break in service of less than six months between the separation date with the previous employer and the appointment date with the County of Riverside.

Tier III (PEPRA New Member - Formula 2% @ 62) : Applicable to CalPERS local miscellaneous new members hired on or after the implementation of the Public Employees' Pension Reform Act of 2013 (PEPRA) which took effect January 1, 2013.

Effective July 1, 2023 employee contributions are 7.25% and will increase to 7.75% effective July 1, 2024. Additional Supplemental Life plan is available for employee purchase. DISABILITY - LONG-TERM DISABILITY (LTD) : Benefit pays 66.

67% of earnings to a maximum of $10,000 per month; 30-day waiting period; pays to age 65.

Benefit can be coordinated with other available leave balances to provide up to 100% of pay. POST RETIREMENT MEDICAL CONTRIBUTION : A monthly contribution is made by the County towards retiree health insurance offered through the County as governed by the applicable SEIU Memorandum of Understanding.

OTHER : There may be other benefit provisions as specified in the applicable Memorandum of Understanding.
