Job Description:
Under general supervision, serves as liaison between supervisor and administration, public and private agencies, department heads, government officials, staff, and the general public; performs a variety of administrative and management support activities related to Employee Benefits. Assists with special projects as assigned. Performs related duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Any combination of training and work experience which indicates possession of the skills, knowledge and abilities listed below.
Completion of two (2) years post-secondary education in business, secretarial sciences or related discipline, plus two (2) years experience performing responsible administrative and support duties or equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities to perform the duties of the position as approved by the Department of Human Resources.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior work Human Resources, specifically employee benefits.

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee may be required to travel to and access the various assigned work sites.
  • Job is physically comfortable. Typically requires sitting, walking, standing, bending, keying, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions; use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • May occasionally be required to reach with hands and arms and climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close visions, distance vision, color vision and peripheral vision.
Licensing/Certification:
  • Requires a valid State of Ohio motor vehicle operator’s license, if utilization of a motor vehicle to perform the essential functions is required.
  • Must maintain current licenses, if applicable.
Job Duties:
Administrative Functions - * Acts as liaison between supervisor and staff, agency administration, department heads, government officials, and the general public; * receives and screens callers and maintains administrator’s calendar; * serves as an information source; * refers calls to appropriate department personnel; * greets and assists public in a professional manner; * provides general information on departmental, county and state policies and procedures within area of assignment; * schedules appointments for the department head and/or assigned staff and partners, including meetings, speaking; engagements/ appearances, conferences, etc. and notifies all involved parties;* assists and relieves supervisor of administrative tasks by assuming responsibilities for normal daily division functions as assigned; responds to inquiries; addresses inquiries, evaluating issues and attempting to resolve them or directing to appropriate offices; * assists supervisor with assignments by researching and/or monitoring programs, projects, studies, problems and inquiries through to completion within time frames assigned; compiles and evaluates data; makes recommendations; communicates administrative decisions, policy changes and directives to appropriate staff; participates in development and implementation of division policy and procedures; assists with special projects and performs support tasks as assigned.
Other Functions - * Provides quality customer service by assisting clients, division staff, community agencies, governmental agencies, private and non-profit businesses, and service providers in resolving inquiries, complaints, or problems; * presents self in a professional, ethical and culturally sensitive manner to co-workers, staff, other County personnel, clients, partners, and the public; * adheres to all policies and procedures (e.g. division, department, county, federal and state); * attends meetings, conferences, workshops, seminars and training to remain current and knowledgeable on County, grant and program rules, policies, regulations, procedures and to receive information on available resources and requirements as directed; * demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.

Work Schedule:
Monday – Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. Some evening and weekend work hours may be required.
