Job Description

General Overview
Under direction from administrative superior, conducts training needs assessments for multiple program areas or broad singular programs, which may include regional (ODHS) activity; plans, designs, and conducts or coordinates and assists with planning, design, and conduct of training curriculum, materials, and activities; evaluates and modifies or recommends modification of training programs; develops, assists, and evaluates program trainers. Performs other related duties as required.
Required Qualifications
Any combination of training and work experience which indicates possession of the skills, knowledge, and abilities listed below.
Three (3) years experience in employee training and development inclusive of one (1) year of experience in training needs assessment and six (6) months experience in public speaking, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of employee training and development; human relations; communications; agency/program goals and objectives; supervision; agency/program rules and regulations. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; write and/or edit training materials and information; compile and prepare reports and documentation; communicate effectively; develop a good rapport with associates and subordinates; use proper research methods to gather data.
Job Duties
The duties listed below are intended to depict tasks performed by this classification.
Conducts and/or coordinates conduct of training needs assessments (e.g., designs or coordinates design of data collection instruments, conducts or coordinates conduct of the development and utilization of assessment tools, develops or assists with development of other training evaluation instruments and methods); compiles or coordinates compilation of data and information; analyzes training needs, assessments, and other evaluative data to determine training priorities and/or necessary improvements or modifications.
Supervises training and support staff (e.g., plans, schedules, and assigns work, trains staff and evaluates employee work performance, interviews job applicants and recommends for hiring, receive and adjusts grievances, approves leave requests, recommends commendations and disciplinary actions as necessary, etc.) and/or confers with other administrators to provide direction, advice, and assistance on training matters within their jurisdiction.
Designs, develops, and implements or oversees the design, development, and implementation of internal training programs and materials;coordinates procurement of external training programs and resources (e.g., contacts resources, evaluates programs, prepares or coordinates preparation of bid specifications as necessary, schedules programs and facilities, conducts or directs conduct of follow up evaluation); monitors and evaluates provision of training services and redesigns and revises and/or directs redesign and revision as appropriate.
Researches and analyzes program and regulatory changes as necessary; confers with administrative staff and external resources to coordinate uniform interpretation and understanding; redesigns or coordinates redesign of training programs and materials as necessary; represents agency at meetings and conferences.

Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
Some evening and weekend hours may be required.
