Staff Services Analyst I: $25.69-$31.23 per hour

Staff Services Analyst II: $28.39-$34.50 per hour

Senior Staff Services Analyst: $31.36-$38.12 per hour

DEFINITION 
Staff Services Analyst I/II Under direct or general supervision, to analyze, develop and coordinate administrative functions for a department, including preparing and administering budgets, evaluating and developing grant funding sources, planning and conducting feasibility studies for new and existing programs, and other administrative activities; and to perform related duties as assigned. 
Senior Staff Services Analyst 
Under general direction, plans, develops, and oversees administrative functions for a department, including preparing and administering budgets, evaluating and developing grant funding sources, planning and conducting feasibility studies for new and existing programs, and other administrative activities; and to perform related duties as assigned. 
 
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED  
Staff Services Analyst I/II Receives direct or general supervision from assigned supervisory or management staff.
Senior Staff Services Analyst Receives general direction from assigned supervisory or management staff. May provide supervision and training to lower-level staff.
 
CLASS CHARACTERISTICS 
Staff Services Analyst I: This is the entry-level class in the Staff Services Analyst series. Initially under close supervision, incumbents perform analytical and technical work within the assigned department. As experience is gained, assignments become more varied and are performed with greater independence. Incumbents at this level usually perform most of the duties required of the positions at the II level but are not expected to function at the same skill level and usually exercise less independent discretion and judgment in matters related to work procedures and methods. Work is usually supervised while in progress and fits an established structure or pattern. Exceptions or changes in procedures are explained in detail as they arise. Since this class is often used as a training class, employees may have only limited or no directly related work experience. 
Staff Services Analyst II: This is the fully competent level class in the Staff Services Analyst series that performs a variety of program, funding and related analytical services for various departments with the County. Incumbents are expected to have or develop specific knowledge of program and functional areas of the department to which assigned. Positions at this level are distinguished from the I level by the performance of the full range of duties as assigned, working independently, and exercising judgment and initiative. Positions at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise, are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit and may provide lead and/or functional direction to technical and support staff in in the performance of departmental administrative functions.
Senior Staff Services Analyst: This is the senior level class in the Staff Services Analyst series that performs a variety of program, funding and related analytical services for various departments with the County. Incumbents are expected to have comprehensive knowledge of specific programs and functional areas of the department to which assigned. Incumbents perform the most complex and/or sensitive analytical work and provide direction to lower-level staff. Positions at this level are distinguished from the II level by the complexity of duties assigned, working independently, and exercising independent judgment and initiative. Positions in the Staff Services Analyst class series are flexibly staffed and positions at the higher-level are normally filled by advancement from the lower level depending on department or program need and after gaining the knowledge, skill, and experience which meets the qualifications for and after demonstrating the ability to perform the work of the higher-level class.
