Job Overview:

This position will report to the VP of Legal/Deputy General Counsel and will be responsible for providing day-to-day legal support to internal stakeholders on a wide range of corporate and SEC regulatory matters. The person must possess strong self-starting qualities. The successful candidate will be able to handle sensitive situations tactfully yet firmly, to be assertive without being adversarial and to take unpopular positions when necessary while maintaining trust and credibility. This position requires a team player who can thrive in a fast-moving environment.

Job Description:

• Be a trusted legal advisor to the organization on sensitive and wide-ranging global corporate and SEC regulatory matters including: compliance policies, programs, and procedures; contracts; and related matters
• Partner with internal stakeholders to support processes with an approach that balances pragmatism, risk, and compliance
• Negotiate and counsel on third party contracts
• Draft agreements
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to support and maintain regulatory compliance in the U.S.
• Manage outside counsel in a variety of wide-ranging matters
• Consistently anticipate, identify, and provide timely evaluation of potential business and legal risks
• Advise business partners of risks and propose mitigation strategies
• Perform other duties as assigned
• This position requires travel 5% - 10% of the time.

Required education and experience:

• Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school
• Legal experience at a major law firm
• 2-5 years of relevant experience
• Active license to practice law in at least one jurisdiction
• Demonstrated legal experience advising corporate clients
• Strong interpersonal skills, including effective verbal and written communication skills in all interactions with senior management, corporate departments and all levels of employees
• Proven ability to analyze corporate legal matters of all levels of complexity, and exercise sound judgment in balancing legal risks and business needs
• Developed business acumen, with ability to understand the company's business and anticipate the nature and magnitude of issues that could arise in various settings
• Demonstrated ability to provide timely, responsive advice in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work at times of day necessary to support global operations as needed

This position will be performed in an office setting While performing the duties of this job, the person will be required to sit and stand at a desk and is regularly required to talk or hear. Pay & Benefits

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. At Coupang, your base pay is one part of your total compensation.

The base pay for this position ranges from $120,000/year in our lowest geographic market to $150,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on several factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
