Position Summary:

The Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting with performance of various accounting, internal control and financial reporting responsibilities, including fixed assets and leases. Excellent initiative and communication/collaboration skills and a solid accounting background are important to this position as are intermediate to advanced skills in Excel and Word.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform monthly close processes, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations and account roll-forwards.
  • Review fixed asset transactions for proper capital / expense accounting treatment.
  • Record fixed asset additions, transfers and dispositions in the fixed asset system for multiple companies.
  • Perform analysis of new projects and existing asset records to ensure additions, transfers and dispositions are recorded.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of annual budgets as it relates to depreciation.
  • Perform lease classification testing for proper operating / finance accounting treatment.
  • Support financial accounting and reporting for leases, including recording lease transactions in the lease software system, preparing various schedules, and performing lease administration activities.
  • Prepare various reports and analysis on a monthly and ad hoc basis.
  • Coordinate with numerous operations leaders across the organization
  • Assist with internal and external audits.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business administration.
  • 1 - 4 years of corporate accounting experience, experience with fixed asset accounting preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft suite of products.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position in an office environment 70% of the time.
  • Will occasionally move about inside the office to access files, office machinery, etc.
  • Must be able to operate basic office machinery.
  • Must be able to communicate with team and management and be able to exchange accurate information in. these situations.
  • Constantly working in an office environment.

  • Must be able to problem solve and prioritize tasks.
  • Must be able to manage stress depending on deadlines and ongoing projects.
  • Must be able to multitask.
  • Must be able to receive and analyze financial information.
  • Must be able to quickly communicate solutions if problems occur.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a high degree of sound judgement and initiative.
