The Rehabilitation nurse cares for patients experiencing temporary, progressive, or permanent disabilities or illnesses that require rehabilitation. Rehab nurses assess, diagnose, and help to design a plan of care that best suits the patient’s needs and expedite recovery. Working with physicians, pharmacists, and occupational and physical therapists, rehabilitation nurses support patients throughout the recovery process by educating them and helping set recovery goals, encouraging self-care, and providing effective coping skills.
