Overview
The Scale Clerk is responsible for accurately weighing vehicles, processing transactions, and providing excellent customer service at Cozzi Recycling. This role is key to ensuring efficient operations in the scale house and maintaining organized records of materials and inventory.
Responsibilities
Weighing Vehicles:
- Operate a computerized scale system to weigh trucks and other vehicles entering or leaving the facility with recyclable materials.
Operating Equipment:
- Use scale software to apply correct inventory, customer, and material codes for all loads.
Processing Paperwork:
- Enter load and customer information into the system.
- Print and distribute customer tickets and receipts accurately.
Managing Inventory:
- Track inventory of materials and handle adjustments for cash transactions.
- Assist with reconciling daily transactions as needed.
Customer Service:
- Greet and assist customers in a professional and courteous manner.
- Answer questions regarding load information, pricing, and facility policies.
Facility Maintenance:
- Keep the scale house and surrounding grounds clean, organized, and safe.
- Monitor and report any facility or equipment maintenance needs.
Administrative Support:
- Perform data entry, reporting, and filing duties.
- Act as backup for other positions as required.
Other Duties:
- Assist with tasks or projects assigned by management to support operations.
Qualifications:
- Availability to work 40–50 hours per week with flexible morning shifts (starting as early as 6:00 AM).
- Bilingual: English and Spanish (required).
- High energy and ability to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for customer interactions.
- Ability to learn and use scale software and basic computer systems.
- Team player with a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Capability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.
- Comfort working in a facility with exposure to outdoor conditions (heat, cold, dust).
