Job Title: Human Resources Assistant

Location: CP Rochester – Winton Road Facility

Salary: $19.00 - $22.00 commensurate with experience

Employment: This is a full-time 35 hours per week position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday during business hours (8:00am-3:30pm). Evening work may be required as job duties demand.

Summary/Objective: The Human Resources Assistant is responsible for performing HR-related duties in supporting the Associate Director and Vice President and the overall HR Support to the Agencies. This position carries out responsibilities in the following areas: recruitment/employment, employment law compliance, onboarding and benefit administration.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Associates degree preferred.
  • Human Resources Experience Preferred but not required
  • Excellent and effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and adaptability and aptitude in learning other systems.
  • Must have demonstrated commitment to performing job duties and tasks at a high level of performance.

  • Must be able to maintain a high level of proficiency and accountability with documentation. Proven ability to meet deadlines is essential.

Essential Functions:

  • Imparts agency philosophy of “Equal Opportunity, Independence and Realization of Individual Potential” to children, families, program staff and community resources.
  • Maintains confidentiality of information relating to individuals and their families in accordance with agency policy.
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws.
  • Maintains all employee and applicant documentation as dictated by governing agencies.
  • Implements full recruitment initiatives providing support to hiring managers to include but not limited to: internal and external job postings/ads, promoting the Agency’s job vacancies at job fairs, reviewing applications, screening applicants, performing reference checks, initiating offer letters, etc.
  • Ensures all appropriate background checks and LENS driving checks are processed and returned with acceptable results for new employees to comply with the program’s oversight agency regulations and agency policy.
  • Ensures all required paperwork is completed by new employees throughout the onboarding process.
  • Conducts a comprehensive new employee orientation.
  • Inputs new hires into benefit site.
  • Assists with the promotion and transfer process.
  • Provides benefit information to candidates and employees and assists them with the benefit site registration or changes to benefits as needed. Assists with open enrollment as needed.
  • Maintains and updates HRIS database. Inputs all new employee information in a timely manner in order to meet all payroll deadlines.
  • Establishes and maintains employee personnel files.
  • Assists with the employee recognition events for the Agencies.
  • Maintains a high level of confidentiality.
  • Participates in conferences, workshops and in-service training as needed or recommended to enhance job skills and personal growth and development.
  • Adheres to agency’s policies and procedures as well as department guidelines.
  • Performs other duties at the discretion of the President/CEO or his/her designee.

Travel: Travel is primarily local during the business day but employee will be expected to work at any of our partner agencies. Some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
