CPKC is Hiring a Diesel Mechanic (Machinist) Near Shreveport, LA
PURPOSE OF POSITION: New hire Qualified Diesel Mechanic will receive a $15,000 signing bonus. In this role you will inspect, service, and maintain diesel locomotives in accordance with governmental and company regulations.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Diagnose diesel engine malfunctions and make indicated repairs using hand tools, measuring instruments and sometimes machine tools
- Inspect, maintain, and repair locomotives, including air brakes, diesel engines, and air compressors
- Perform air brake tests
- Operate welding equipment to cut or make necessary repairs
- Other duties as assigned
- Preference given to those with a Journeymen diesel, Heavy-Duty, Industrial Electrician, Truck, Farm Implement Mechanics or related fields
- Automotive Technicians and Electricians will also be considered with apprenticeship credits offered for prior work experience
- Strong problem solving and computer skills
- Must be able to work within strict established safety and work guidelines/rules to complete job
- Will be required to have obtained all CPKC certification pertaining to specific tasks and assignments
- CPKC operates 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; must be able to work on various shifts and days off
