About the Position As a Senior Human Resources (HR) Consultant - Classification and Compensation on the Classification and Compensation Team, you will have an opportunity to join a team of experts and highlight your talents conducting project work for client agencies. Many of the assignments you may be responsible for include, but are not limited to:
- classification analysis,
- compensation planning,
- salary surveys,
- salary reviews and data analysis related to compensation,
- audits,
- determining position allocations,
- total rewards, and
- recommending strategies related to development and maintenance of class concepts, policy development and implementation and more.
TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:
- Leading complex classification and compensation projects from inception to successful completion, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
- Collaboration with clients to analyze and evaluate their current classification and compensation structures.
- Conducting job evaluations and audits to ensure positions are accurately classified.
- Developing and recommending competitive and equitable compensation strategies.
- Providing guidance on job description development and maintenance.
- Assisting clients in conducting market research and benchmarking to ensure competitive pay practices.
- Delivering professional and comprehensive reports and recommendations to clients.
- Providing expert advice and support during compensation negotiations.
- Staying current with industry trends and best practices in classification and compensation.
Travel Requirements CPS HR, headquartered in Sacramento, CA, offers this remote position, which requires travel as needed to meet client demands, estimated at about two days per year.

Ideal Candidate Desirable Qualifications include:
- Public Sector Experience (any combination of city, county, state, federal)
- Consulting and advising experience.
- Classification and Compensation experience
- Project management experience
- Compensation regulatory knowledge (Fair Labor Standards Act, Equal Pay Act, etc.)
Minimum Qualifications EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree with a focus in Human Resources, Business Administration, or another relevant field.
EXPERIENCE:
Must have a minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible experience performing professional Human Resources work including but not limited to classification analysis, compensation planning, salary survey, policy development, project management, consulting and advising.
