Craftsmen Utility Trailers is a full-service semi-trailer dealership headquartered in St. Louis, MO with branch locations in Sikeston, MO and Davenport, IA. The family-owned business has been a market leader for the past 4 decades in the Transportation Industry. With the goal of continuing to grow our business, we are seeking a Trailer Repair Service Writer to join our Davenport team.

Job Overview: Responsible for managing the Service Sales customers through diagnosing their trailer and equipment repair needs, writing repair estimates, creating repair work orders (WO) for technicians to make approved repairs and invoicing. Building strong relationships with customers to cultivate repeat business by understanding their expectations and being committed to an unparalleled customer service experience through consistent communication, and follow-up!

Job Duties & Accountabilities

Typical Duties of a Trailer Repair Service Writer include:

· Staffing the Service counter to assist drive-up customers with their maintenance issues, providing estimates for labor, supplies, parts and acting as a liaison with the shop to get repairs made.

· Create a WO in the Softbase system for equipment repairs for Service customers.

· Contact customer for approval of any additional work they may need and update the WO.

· Track service work in process (WIP) and advise shop of any special instructions as needed.

· Respond to customer questions throughout the service process, be able to manage complaints or disputes and provide updates as their work is completed.

· Review WO for accuracy, verify all repairs were made and close WO in a timely fashion.

· Invoice customer, process payment or confirm payment terms.

· Keep track of all inbound equipment dropped on the front line, perform daily lot checks and update equipment status in CraftShop.

· Technical skillset to assess and write repair estimates, uncompromising attention to detail and organizational skills are the keys to success in the role!

Education

High School High School Diploma or GED is required. Bachelor’s degree or completion of automotive technical training programs is a plus.

Experience

5 years of mechanical trailer repair and maintenance experience. Previous management or service writer experience is preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

1) Knowledge of:

· Service Standard Repair Times.

· Trailer parts, fabrication, painting, truck bodies and lift gate repairs.

· Strong understanding of mechanics and the ability to identify appropriate repairs for equipment problems.

· Basic math and accounting methods.

2) Skill in:

· Computer data entry work.

3) Ability to:

· Think strategically about repair and maintenance issues.
