DescriptionHead Coach - Varsity Football Founded by Detroit philanthropists George and Ellen Booth in 1904, Cranbrook Educational Community is one of the world’s leading centers of education, science, and art. Comprised of a graduate Academy of Art, contemporary Art Museum, Center for Collections and Research, House and Gardens, Institute of Science, and more than 1,600 students attending our Pre-K through 12 independent college preparatory Schools, Cranbrook welcomes thousands of visitors and students to its campus each year. Critics have called Cranbrook “the most enchanted and enchanting setting in America” and in 1989 it was designated a National Historic Landmark. Cranbrook Athletics is seeking applicants with a passion for coaching for our Varsity Football Team for the 2024 season. Our alumni roster boasts names like Heisman Award Winner, Pete Dawkins, and numerous NCAA players. Cranbrook has a proud athletic tradition that includes hundreds of conference, district, and regional titles, and we have clinched an impressive 99 State Championships in seven different sports. Our facilities, including the Thompson Oval, Wallace Ice Arena, Williams Natatorium, Keppel Gymnasium, Jack Sanders Diamond Baseball Field, and one of the premier Tennis complexes in the nation, are a testament to our commitment to excellence.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited ToCoaching responsibilities include management of all facets of the Football program but are not limited to:
RequirementsSuccessful candidates will bring a wealth of experience, with at least three years of successful coaching at the collegiate or high school level or in a club setting. Preferred candidates will have played football at the collegiate level. We place high value on candidates with ties to youth football in the Detroit area, as this demonstrates a deep understanding and connection to our community. We believe that your local ties will not only enhance our team but also strengthen our community bonds. Additionally, we expect candidates to have demonstrated communication and community relations abilities and work effectively with students, staff, administration, and parents.

- Building competitive teams
- Organizing and running practices
- Developing and implementing effective game strategies
- Supervising and hiring assistant coaches
- Organizing off season strength and conditioning workouts, including preseason Football Camp
- Communicating schedule to parents, students, and Athletic Department
