Project Overview
 The South Shore of Staten Island (SSSI) Coastal Storm Risk Management Project includes the construction of coastal storm risk management infrastructure. The program was divided into separate construction reaches, including Interior Drainage Area E. Construction within Interior Drainage Area E includes excavated ponds and open channels; culverts, junction chambers, headwalls, and weir chambers; and landscape features associated with ponds, in addition to the relocation of utility lines.
Hours of Operation
Hours of Operation: Normal business hours shall be 8 hours long (excluding lunch) occurring Monday to Friday, between 0700 and 1530, except Federal and New York City holidays. Hours may be adjusted for weekends or outside of normal hours if requested by the construction contractor and approved by the Government. Must be flexible to maintain proper coordination and on-site coverage with the construction contractor’s schedule.
Job Description
Project Role:
  • Part Time
  • Quality Assurance for USACE NYD
  • Perform Field Construction Observation Reports on all work activities.
  • Take construction photos of the work activities for Owner oversight reporting.
  • Review RFIs, Submittals, and Shop Drawings for Contract Compliance
  • Monitor Project Meetings and Participate as Requested
  • Provide Written Report to USACE RMS for Management Team Review
  • Provide oversight and brief recommendations to Management Team
  • Ensure code compliant installation during construction per construction documents.
Desired Job Experience
Minimum 4 years of experience of Field Engineering, QA, or Utility / Waterfront Relocation. 
License/Certification consistent with NICET III/IV or ASCE IV or similar qualifications. 
Degree in Ecology or related science, OR Certified Professional in Erosion & Sediment
Control (CPESC) certification, OR Certificate in Ecology (CE) issued by the Ecological Society of America (ESA), AND 4 years of experience in NYSDEC wetland permit compliance, familiarity with all other permit requirements, inspecting wetland restoration or stormwater best management practices, and proficiency in identifying both native and invasive plant species to the New York City region.
Must have expert knowledge of Federal, State, and local environmental laws.
