Crawford Memorial Hospital is Hiring an APRN- Oncology/Hematology Near Robinson, IL

Position: APRN- Oncology/Hematology

Department: Consulting Services 

Reports To: CASO

Direct Reports: None

Position Summary

The Nurse Practitioner coordinates the planning, implementation and on-going monitoring and evaluation of oncology and hematology patients in the clinical care setting under the supervision of a collaborating licensed physician. Responsibilities include examining, diagnosing, treating patient conditions, educating patients and family members about medical options, prescribing medications and treatments, and performing other duties to support patients.

General Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Ordering, interpreting, and recording results of clinical tests and reporting results to physicians and other primary health care providers
  • Prescribing medications and making recommendations for other therapeutic forms of treatment
  • Conducting screenings for all types of cancers and blood disorders
  • Oversight and management of treatments
  • Conducting comprehensive or episodic health history and physical assessments
  • Educating patients and families on treatment plans, side effects, prognosis
  • Manage treatment related symptoms and side effects
  • Communicates effectively in both the patient chart and orally with the staff in a manner to ensure plan of care can be understood and executed by others as appropriate
  • Delivering care/treatment care as the primary provider of the in-person clinic in collaboration with the oncologist/hematologist
  • Working alongside an Oncologist/Hematologist to develop plans of care and provide patient education
  • Documenting complete office notes, ordering appropriate labs and diagnostic, testing, and prescribing medications
  • Following up on test results and communicating with patients in timely manner
  • Confirming outbound referrals and surgeries
  • Complies with all established safety procedures to ensure a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff
  • Participates in performance improvement activities
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Nursing Required

Certification/Licensure Requirements

  • Current IL APRN Licensure
  • Current IL DEA License Required
  • BLS Required

Experience

  • Oncology/Hematology experience Preferred 

Computer Skills

  • Strong computer skills with the ability to navigate EMR programs

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner
  • Excellent ability to thrive under pressure and adapt to changes in assignment
  • Strong communication skills including reading, writing and the ability to listen effectively
