Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) – Midlothian, VABase Salary $65K-$105KJob SummaryEmbodies an open, collaborative, and trauma informed approach to ABA services. Acts as an expert in their field and sets an example within the program at large to contribute to a positive work culture and a trauma informed treatment environment for all clients. The BCBA will be flexible in their role to provide supervision, direct service, consultation, and other field related duties as needed for the program. Duties may include but are not limited to conducting assessments, overseeing treatment planning and service delivery, supporting classrooms and group home interventions and crises from a behavioral perspective, family-based supports, and services, and participating in a multidisciplinary team.
Job FunctionsPromotes a person-centered approach to treatment: Works with families and other involved guardians/stakeholders to support continuity of care and family involvement in client’s treatment process Respects the personal goals of individuals served with ultimate goal of improving quality of life for the individual served and his/her care providers Identifies behaviors that are barriers to the person’s desired goals and safety Develops programs that derive from the individual’s strength Expected to function within a team-based environment and to collaborate with mental health clinicians to ensure that trauma informed care is integrated into all aspects of client care. Support continuation of care and treatment fidelity through ongoing supports with both the residential and academic staff, as needed and when assigned. Works with IEP, Community FAPT funding, and Medicaid based funding sources. Reports to the Clinical Administrator. Provides family training Uses a positive intervention model that minimizes physical intervention and punishment Collaborates closely with multidisciplinary team and mental health clinician to ensure a shared understanding of the client’s needs and strengths Assesses the function of behavior: Ensures that functional assessments and other related assessments are completed for each assigned individual, and in accordance to timelines Conducts assessment measures in a variety of settings, to include home and community Familiarizes oneself with and utilizes direct assessment tools to measure behavior: May conduct a functional analysis of behavior Selects and uses appropriate data methods when assessing behavior through direct observation (ABC, time sampling, event recording) Utilizes direct assessment measurement tools current in the field of ABA: VB-MAPP ABLLS-R ADOS-II Determines the contextual influences on behavior: Physical environment and physical conditions Staff relationships Identifies and writes behavior plans in coordination with their multidisciplinary team to address the function of the behavior(s) targeted and ensuring a positive, trauma informed implementation of services. Make treatment recommendations according to assessment results and write a clinical assessment summary as required for treatment authorization; attend meetings with funding sources to appropriately request service changes. Evaluates and documents client progress and program effectiveness: Creates data sheets and supervises the collection of progress data as it is recommended within the treatment plan. Adjusts behavioral goals and objectives as needed. Documents, summarizes, and reports on progress data at least monthly. Creates and updates treatment and service discharge plans on a routine basis. Actively participates in and acts as a leader and collaborative partner within monthly treatment plan review meetings with all treatment team members. Prepares and submits monthly/quarterly treatment plan progress reports, according to billing requirements. On an individual client basis, provide initial and ongoing training to Behavior Specialist staff assigned to deliver ABA treatment effectively and consistently: Treatment plan procedures ABA treatment session expectations and scheduling Monitoring service delivery for assigned cases and continuously communicating with Clinical administrator about status of delivered services/service capacities Data collection and graphing techniques Family and related service provider training Supports staff development: Mentors behavior specialists who do not yet have certification, and provide appropriate supervision and consultation on cases that they manage Teaches positive behavior support strategies that can be universally applied Provides insight on how we each influence the people around us with our own behaviors Models interdisciplinary and interdisciplinary collaboration, communication, and professionalism Teach/train staff on the principles of behavior Teaches appropriate and efficient methods of data collection Teaches alternative strategies to avoid the use of physical interventions aligned with Grafton’s Ukeru crisis intervention model Teach/train staff on the need for environmental modifications Teach/train staff on prevention techniques Teach/train staff on antecedents and consequences strategies ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Participates in professional development activities to maintain current knowledge of the field and needs of individuals served Attends meetings as required Participates in work groups as assigned Completes other duties as assigned EDUCATION AND TRAINING EXPERIENCE: Must have a Master’s in a human services field Current board certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB). Requires a valid driver's license. Requires Licensure by the Board of Medicine (Virginia only).
