Position Overview

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for promoting and providing supervision of the safety to Individuals diagnosed with a developmental disability (autism, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, intellectual disability) in various settings (work, home) including group settings to assist the individual in remaining successful in employment and living arrangements.

The DSP will assist with activities of daily living that include personal care, dressing, bathing assistance, and meal preparation as needed. The DSP’s primary duty is to follow each individual’s service plan and provide active treatments accordingly.

Essential Responsibilites include the following:

• Monitoring the health and safety of all individuals.
• Implement all directives from both Program Director and Program Supervisor.
• Implement the Individual's objectives and behavioral plans specified in the Individual Service plan as well as the Individual Program Plan as written by the ID Team per Regional Center.

• Assist individuals with their personal care needs (ADL’s) as necessary to maintain appropriate hygiene.
• Assist in keeping accurate data on each individual's progress.
• Supervise the individual on all their tasks, training, and community activities.
• Assist individuals on all household chores, yard maintenance, and includes keeping the home neat and clean at all times.

• Appropriately follow protocol to administer medications to individuals.
• Properly document each dispensing administration in the Medication Administration Record.
• Responsive to emergency needs; reports and assists during the time of an emergency.
• Thoroughly familiar with all emergency plans and procedures.
• Attends all monthly training and staff meetings to increase knowledge of client and company philosophy.
• Assists with individual’s assignments and projects.
• Encourages individual choice.
• Drive personal vehicle for client community activities.
• Will serve to act as a positive role model for all individuals.
• Reports all possible cases of abuse, neglect, or endangerment to appropriate supervisor; complies with all mandated reporter legal requirements.

• Assumes continuing responsibility for maintaining an attractive, interesting area in which to work with clients; shares in performance of routine housekeeping, monitoring and clerical tasks.

• Maintains a professional code of ethics.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Minimum of one year of experience providing direct supervision/care to individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.

Requirements

• Reliable transportation.
• Valid California Drivers License.
• Must be willing to undergo criminal background check.
• Covid-19 Vaccination.
• CPR certification (to be obtained with 30 days)
• First Aid certification (to be obtained with 30 days)

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
