Veterinary Assistant Job Description

Job Summary:
We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our team. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our veterinary staff in providing high-quality care in our low-cost Spay and Neuter Clinic. Your responsibilities will include assisting the veterinarian and vet tech, handling and restraining animals, maintaining cleanliness in the clinic, and ensuring the well-being of our furry patients.

Duties:
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures.
- Handle and restrain animals for treatment.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the clinic.
- Provide basic animal care such as feeding, walking, and grooming.
- Monitor animal behavior and report any changes to the veterinary team.
- Help with pet sitting and kennel duties as needed.

Qualifications:
- Proficiency in veterinary terminology and animal anatomy knowledge.
- Experience in veterinary critical care and animal physiology.
- Ability to handle animal restraint effectively.
- Knowledge of pet care practices and basic laboratory procedures.
- Familiarity with animal catheterization techniques.
- Previous experience in a veterinary setting or related field is preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Day shift
• Monday to Friday
• Morning shift
• Weekends as needed

Experience:

• Veterinary experience: 1 year (Preferred)
• Veterinary assistant: 1 year (Required)
