Key Responsibilities
- Verify the accuracy of invoices, including pricing and supporting documentation, and apply available discounts.
- Code invoices correctly to the appropriate general ledger, job, and cost code accounts.
- Reconcile vendor statements.
- Maintain organized accounts payable files.
- Perform light administrative tasks such as opening and distributing daily mail.
- Prepare weekly and monthly accounts payable checks.
- Issue Notices of Payments to Subcontractors as needed.
- Communicate cash requirements to the Controller.
- Address vendor inquiries promptly.
- Assist with monthly closings and special projects as needed.
- Maintain a professional appearance and a tidy work area.
- Experience in construction, job costing, and progress billing.
- Strong organizational skills and a professional demeanor.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Associate's degree in accounting with 2 years of experience, or 5 years in an accounts payable role.
- Knowledge of GAAP.
- Experience in the construction industry.
- Familiarity with progress billings and AIA Payment Applications.
- Understanding of Certificates of Insurance and Lien Waivers.
- Knowledge of Notice of Subcontracts and Notice of Payments.
- Experience with multi-jurisdictional sales and use tax reporting.
