About the Role:

Magic Molecule is in search of a Head of Ops who will be responsible for optimizing and overseeing all aspects of our retail operations, including EDI and ERP implementation, retail forecasting, and logistics. This pivotal role demands strong leadership, strategic thinking, and a lean mindset to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will have a profound understanding of retail operations, supply chain management, and inventory forecasting/accounting.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify, plan, manage, and report on process improvement initiatives using data collection, analytics, and insights to enhance operational performance.
  • Create, implement, and lead a Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) system on a monthly basis to ensure alignment between sales forecasts and inventory levels.
  • Collaborate with senior management and other stakeholders to define short and long-term operational plans that support organizational goals.
  • Work to implement and ultimately integrate tech systems into place (EDI, MRP)
  • Analyze existing processes and workflows to identify areas for improvement and implement changes to streamline operations, reduce costs, and enhance efficiency while maintaining quality standards.
  • This includes current planning processes, inventory management, supply & demand forecasting, logistics processes
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to track operational performance and evaluate progress towards goals.
  • Oversee the implementation of retail logistics and distribution strategies to ensure efficient product delivery, customer satisfaction, and on-shelf availability
  • Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with the organization's goals and objectives, driving continuous improvement in customer service and operational excellence.
  • Lead and manage the monthly inventory forecasting and accounting processes to ensure accurate projections and healthy inventory levels across the company.

What we’re looking for:

  • 5-8 years of relevant experience, with significant experience in retail operations and some experience at a startup brand.
  • Proven leadership skills with a history of growing and managing teams effectively.
  • Keen analytical mind, critical thinking, complex problem-solving, judgment, prioritization, and decision-making abilities.
  • Solid financial and analytical skills, with experience driving change in organizations by influencing stakeholder buy-in and managing the change process.
  • Exceptional project management skills, including high-level and detailed planning, tracking, and budgeting, with the ability to hold self and others accountable.
  • Hands-on experience driving process improvement projects utilizing a repeatable, systematic approach.
  • Experience leading customer experience/client insight programs, with strong working knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
  • NYC-based and able to go into the office in SoHo three days a week (Monday-Wednesday).
