Credit Union 1 is Hiring a Benefits Specialist - Human Resources Near Anchorage, AK

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Acts as the primary contact for benefit related matters. Assist employees with inquiries, conducting research when needed, and answering questions accurately. Keeps the VP of Human Resource informed of potential improvements or concerns.
  • Schedules and conducts benefit meetings with eligible employees when appropriate.
  • Recommends and implements benefits programs. Examines possible plan designs and benefit cost changes.
  • Works with the credit unions brokers to analyze current benefit program evaluating the use, services, coverage, effectiveness, cost, plan experience and competitive trends in programs and credit union needs.
  • Complete benefits surveys and analyze results. Review forecast trends and assist with future benefits design. Develop recommendations for review by VP of Human Resources.
  • Act as primary contact for all FMLA related questions. Including the processing of paperwork, tracking hours and distributing notices. Assist with administration of benefits programs for all credit union employees.
  • Act as primary contact for Wellness Program. Assist the VP of Human Resources with recommending Wellness program additions and enhancements to current program.
  • Assists accounting with various payroll related tasks (i.e. processing/review of timecard coding for FMLA and Work Comp.) and answering payroll related employee questions regarding employee deductions as needed.
  • Processes employee tuition reimbursement and daycare differential requests.
  • Assist with data entry of employee changes in HRIS as needed.
  • Process all new employee benefit enrollments and changes for existing employees.
  • Oversee maintenance of employee benefits files, maintain group benefits database and update employee payroll records in HRIS.
  • Act as primary contact for all ancillary products.
  • Acts as primary administrator for employee points program.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Acts as liaison to agencies, organizations, businesses and other employers, answering requests for information following department policy.
  • Exhibits a high standard of professionalism, setting a positive example for other employees regarding appearance and conduct.
  • Adheres to strict confidentiality regarding personnel information.
  • Meets the current standards as established for the department in the completion of all assigned duties.
  • Completes other projects and duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a high school graduate or equivalent, and 2 years of related benefits or employee benefits administration experience.
  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills and word processing skills, be detail-oriented and accurate.
  • A professional demeanor and adherence to confidentiality and privacy acts are required.
  • Responsible for abiding and complying with the policy for compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and anti-money laundering laws and regulations (BSA/AML) and the policy for compliance with office of foreign assets control laws and regulations (OFAC).

Please note: Credit Union 1 does not provide relocation assistance. If selected for an on-site position, candidates will be responsible for relocating to Alaska prior to the agreed upon start date at their own expense.
