Job Title : Medical Coder (Full Time, Day Shift)

Schedule : Monday - Friday, 8 : 00 AM - 5 : 00 PM (On-Site at the Hospital)

Job Summary : Crescent City Recruitment Group is working on behalf of our esteemed hospital system client to find a skilled and detail-oriented Medical Coder.

The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately interpreting patient records and assigning ICD-9 and / or ICD-10 diagnostic codes and CPT procedural codes.

Key Responsibilities :

• Interpret and code patient records using ICD-9, ICD-10, and CPT codes.
• Ensure accurate coding for optimal reimbursement and regulatory compliance.
• Review patient records to verify accuracy and completeness.
• Communicate with healthcare providers to clarify diagnoses or obtain additional information.
• Stay updated on coding guidelines and industry regulations.

Job Requirements : Minimum Education :

Minimum Education :

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Minimum Work Experience :

At least 1 year of related experience.

Required Licenses / Certifications :

Certification in medical coding is required.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities :

• Thorough understanding of medical terminology and anatomy.
• In-depth knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
• Familiarity with third-party billing and collection regulatory guidelines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute and proficiency with ten-key by touch.
• Proficient in general office automation, including fax machines, copiers, adding machines, postage machines, and multi-line phone systems.
• Proficient in using a PC, the Internet, and MS Windows.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff and providers.
• Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with patients, staff, managers, and physicians.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and multi-task effectively.
