The Activity Director is responsible for planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall operation of the Activity Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local regulations and our established policies and procedures. The Activity Director must assure that an ongoing program of activities is designed to meet, in accordance with the comprehensive assessment, the interests and the physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being of each resident.

Your Job 

  • Participates in discharge planning, development and implementation of activity care plans and resident assessments
  • Interviews resident/families as necessary and in a private setting
  • Performs administrative requirements, such as completing necessary forms, reports, etc., and submitting such to the Executive Director as required
  • Involves residents in planning facility activity programs
  • Assists in standardizing the methods in which work will be accomplished
  • Reviews and develops a plan of correction for activity deficiencies noted during survey inspections and provide a written copy of such report to the Executive Director
  • Participates in facility surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies
  • Ensures that all charted activity progress notes are informative and descriptive of the services provided and of the resident’s response to the service
  • Involves the resident/family in planning objectives and goals for the resident care planning
  • Meets with administration, medical and nursing staff, as well as other related departments in order to coordinate and plan activity programs
  • Arranges transportation for field trips when necessary
  • Checks supply rooms to assure that needed activity supplies are on hand to conduct scheduled activities
  • Purchases department supplies, clothing and personal items for the residents
  • Schedules movies, plan parties, and provide games/activities for residents
  • Encourages residents to participate in hobbies and crafts. Provide materials as necessary
  • Supervises activities as necessary
  • Develops and maintains an activity schedule
  • Provides reading materials in braille, tapes, and records as necessary
  •  Makes routine visits to residents and perform assistance with crafts, projects, etc., as necessary
  •  Assists bed residents by visiting with them, writing letters, running errands, making appointments, etc., as necessary
  • Others as deemed necessary and appropriate, or as may be directed by the Executive Director. We Offer:
