Accounts Payable Specialist

Position Summary

We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist at our Chattanooga, TN location. As a vital part of our accounting department, the Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for overseeing the accounts payable functions within the organization. This role entails managing vendor invoices and credits, ensuring timely and accurate vendor payment, and maintaining vendor relationships. The A/P Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the financial health and cash flow of the company.

The position will report directly to the Accounting Manager and have the full support of our accounting team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

• Reviewing invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to processing
• Entering or reviewing entry of invoices into accounting software
• Processing invoices and payments in an accurate and timely manner
• Saving invoice and credit documentation into accounting software
• Researching and resolving invoices and monthly statements for discrepancies and issues
• Work with internal team to review and process vendor credits
• Communicating with vendors regarding payment status, invoice requests and inquiries as needed
• Setup of new vendors in accounting software, including getting documentation required, such as W-9’s, preferred payment method, etc.
• Match credit card receipts to statements and enter transactions monthly
• Assisting with month-end closing
• Help identify opportunities for process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy
• Implement new systems and technologies as needed
• Working well with our team is essential

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

· Reliable transportation

· Computer use competency including Outlook, Microsoft products, and Excel

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills

· Self-motivated and driven

· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

· Ability to function well in a high-paced environment

· High school diploma preferred

· One year or more of accounts payable experience is highly preferred
